[Dillon Does]: DIY Dining Room Table

Guys.
We built a table.
Because that's obviously what all the cool 20-somethings are doing with their Sunday afternoons, yeah?
But before we get too carried away drooling over my INCREDIBLE new, trendy, absolutely perfectly different and *handmade* dining room table: some introductions.
First, I'd like to introduce a fun little series to Delightfully Dillon, aptly titled "[Dillon Does]".
Now that my life as a full-on, time-sucking student has come to an end, I'm attempting to figure out what I love and who I am by filling my free hours (because I HAVE some of those now! Not many...but still...) with new experiences and projects and fun and challenging things! I've already got a few things on the go, so my goal is to be able to pump out a "Dillon Does" post every month. So keep your eyes peeled for all the shenanigans I'm planning to get myself up to!
Second, I'd like to introduce you to easily one of the most flawlessly beautiful humans I've ever had the privilege to force to hang out with me: Miss Haley Bea (isn't she actually the cutest?!)

This ridiculously cool woman is the actual DIY Queen, and all of the creative things I've accomplished with any success over the past year have been basically 100% thanks to her. Not only is she a talented creator of wonderful things, she is also a walking encyclopedia, with knowledge pertaining to literally anything you could possibly want to know about, she's an amazing little chef who keeps me from starving to death on the regular, she's on fire for Jesus and she sends me morning texts that say nice things because she's just the best friend ever.
So everyone, say hello to Haley!
As you maybe gathered from the intro, Haley is a construction superhero, and when I randomly announced 3 weeks ago that I, you know, wanted to build myself a new dining room table, she was like "okay cool, just let me get my drill and we can go to Home Depot. Do you want to drive, or..?"
...because another great thing about this woman is that she just *believes* that you can do anything you want to do. How refreshing is that, eh?
And so we did. It took us a few weeks to completely finish it, but it was SUCH a cool project, and I'm thrilled with the end result. Essentially, we bought some lumber, braced the pieces together, measured the sides to cut hexagonally (did you catch that part?! My table is the shape of a h o n e y c o m b. I'll give you a minute to let your hipster hearts swoon). Then we stained the tabletop, waited for the arrival of these GORGEOUS, handmade hair-pin legs, courtesy of Blue Caribou Design in Penticton, BC, and then slapped it all together in my kitchen!
SERIOUSLY THOUGH HOW PERFECT IS THIS BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF RIDICULOUSLY CREATED FURNITURE?!
It was a blast to make, and part of me wants to turn my spare bedroom into a second eating space just so we can build another one. Anybody interested? Because full disclosure: hit us up and we'll build one for you! That's right, YOU could have your very own unique, made-with-love dinner table. Or bedside table. Or coffee table, or literally whatever you want, because thinking it up is half the fun. Let's be honest, you're probably sitting around your $600 ikea clunker right now, wishing you were here with me and my pretty table, right? I know, you don't have to pretend you don't wish your table was hexagonal, we wouldn't believe you even if you tried...
So there you have it; Sunday-funday, [Dillon Does], and a Haley shoutout. Feel free to send all your custom furniture orders to me via the comment section, or email, or text, or whatever - I just ask that you save yourself the postage and NOT send it in letter form, the 'fan-mail' I've been receiving lately is already overwhelming, and I don't think I could take any more of that at the moment.
Happy Monday, lovely ones!
Jessica*.
